Southlake Carroll’s Griffin Herring Named THSB Player of the Year

Sr LHP Griffin Herring of 6A Southlake Carroll is the THSB Player of the Year. Herring finished the season with a record of 13-1, a 0.24 ERA and 145 Strikeouts in 87 IP. He led all 6A pitchers in Wins, ERA and Strikeouts, capturing the 6A Pitcher’s Triple Crown.

Herring helped lead Southlake Carroll to the 6A State Tournament, shutting out opponents in all 5 playoff games he pitched in leading up to the State Tournament. He was the winning pitcher of the State Semifinal win over Ft. Bend Ridge Point giving up 1 run on 5 hits, striking out 13 without walking a batter.  Southlake Carroll went on to win the 6A State Championship.

GriffinHerringalltexasHerring had a 47 consecutive scoreless inning streak during the latter part of the season. He gave up a run in the top of the 7th on April 14th against Northwest Eaton (their first run of the game) and didn’t give up  another run until the 7th inning of the State Tournament Semifinal game against Ft. Bend Ridge Point. The streak covered 8 consecutive games, including 6 playoff games.

Herring was named the 4-6A Pitcher of the Year and the Dallas Morning News Player of the Year. He was also selected to the THSBCA 6A Elite All-Star Team.

Herring is also the THSB Pitcher of the Year.

Herring will pitch at Louisana State University next year.
