Sophomore Tanner Witt hit a walk-off RBI single to give the Bellaire Episcopal Knights a 6-5 win over Kinkaid and their 2nd consecutive Southwest Preparatory Conference Tournament Championship.

With one out and the score tied 5-5 in the bottom of the 7th, Left Fielder Jack Grams singled to center field. Grams moved to second base when Peter Gieb was hit by a pitch. Witt then came up and on an 0-1 pitch got his 2nd hit of the game to drive in Grams for the win.

Gieb was the winning pitcher for Episcopal in relief. He pitched 2.2 innings of shut out relief giving up only 1 hit while striking out 1.

Kinkaid’s Wyatt Young hit a 3 Run Homer in the top of the 5th to give Kinkaid a 5-2 lead. The Knights tied the game in the bottom of the 5th on a bases loaded hit by pitch, a Witt ground out RBI and an Antonio Cruz Sac Fly.

Sunday’s Article

After rain wiped out the opening rounds of the SPC tournament, Saturday was a very busy day attempting to complete as many games as possible.  The South division dominated the day, winning three of the five opening round games and then sweeping the championship quarterfinals.  After a long day, and two south division teams reaching the championship, it was decided that game would be played on Monday in Houston.  Episcopal and Kinkaid will meet at 6:00 PM Monday night at the University of Houston to decide the SPC championship.  Click the link below for complete results!
