THSB All-Decade Team: Courtney Hawkins, OF/RHP, Corpus Christi Carroll, 2012
admin | Apr 4th, 2020Courtney Hawkins was a OF/RHP who graduated from 5A Corpus Christi Carroll in 2012. As a senior, Hawkins hit .437 with 11 Home Runs, 56 Runs, 39 RBIs, 17 Stolen Bases, a .580 OBP and an .874 Slugging Percentage. He also went 5-2 with a 0.96 ERA, 57 strikeouts in 36.1 innings and one save as a pitcher. He was named the TSWA 5A Player of the Year and the Gatorade Texas Player of the Year.
Hawkins was named to the 5A All-State 1st Team as a junior after batting .410 with 15 Home Runs, 42 Runs, 22 Stolen Bases and a .940 Slugging Percentage. He also was 10-2 with a 2.35 ERA and 81 strikeouts on the mound. He was named to the 5A All-State 2nd Team as a sophomore and pitched a complete game win in the 2010 5A State Championship Game to earn the championship game MVP.
Hawkins signed a national letter of intent with the University of Texas. He was drafted with the 13th pick in the 2012 MBL Draft by the Chicago White Sox. He signed with the White Sox on June 18, 2012 with a $2.475 million signing bonus.
The first year of Minor League baseball was productive for Hawkins. In his 2012 rookie league season he hit .272 with 3 Home Runs and 16 RBIs in 38 games and then was promoted August 12 to Low A Kannapolis. After hitting .308 with 4 Home Runs and 15 RBIs in 16 games there, he was promoted on August 29 to High A Winston-Salem. He finished the season as the #1 prospect in the White Sox organization.
Hawkins struggled in the 2013 season and spent the next 5 years in the White Sox minor league organization. He was picked up by the Cincinnati Reds organization in 2018 and played 57 games at the AAA level. He was picked up by the San Francisco Giants organization in 2019.
In 8 minor league seasons, Hawkins has a career .226 Batting Average with 139 Doubles, 104 Home Runs, 384 RBIs and 38 Stolen Bases.
