Forrest Whitley Baseball Card

Forrest Whitley was a RHP for the 5A San Antonio Alamo Heights Mules 2014-2016. In his senior season, he was 10-1 with an 0.28 ERA and 137 Ks in 74.2 innings. He had two no-hitters and allowed only 16 walks. He was a 27-5A 1st Team All-District Pitcher and was named the 5A Player of the Year. He was also named to the All-USA Baseball 1st Team.

As a junior, Whitley was 7-1 with an 0.21 ERA and had 120 Ks. He was a 27-5A 1st Team All-District Pitcher and a 5A 1st Team All-State Pitcher.

Whitley made the USA Baseball 2015 18U National Team which won the Gold Medal in the World Cup in September. Whitley was 1-0, with 15 K’s in 8.2 innings while giving up only one run.

Whitley signed a National Letter of Intent with Florida State University. He was drafted by the Houston Astros with 17th pick of the draft in the 2016 MLB Draft. Whitley was pitching in the 5A State Semifinal Game when the selection was made. He signed with the Astros on June 22, 2016 for a $3.1 million signing bonus.

By August 2017, Whitley had already been promoted to the AA Corpus Christi Hooks. He split time between AA and AAA in 2019. In 4 years, his minor league career stats are a 9-15 record, a 4.71 ERA and 289 Strikeouts in 197 innings.
