Jose Trevino was a C/RHP who graduated from Corpus Christi John Paul II in 2011. In his senior year, Trevino hit .544 with 25 Home Runs, 18 2Bs, 72 Runs and 85 RBIs. On the mound he was 9-0 with an 0.70 ERA and 87 Ks. His 25 Home Runs tied the Texas state record and his 85 RBIs is the most by any Texas high school player. He was a two-time district MVP and was named a Louisville Slugger High School All-American his senior year. He signed with Oral Roberts University.

As a freshman at ORU, Trevino hit .317 with 13 HRs, 18 2Bs and 57 RBIs. He was named a 1st Team Freshman All-American. As a sophomore, he batted .241 with 8 HRs, 9 2Bs and 32 runs and was named 3rd team All-Southland Conference. In his junior season, Trevino hit .304 with 10 HRs, 11 2Bs, and 43 RBIS and was named a 2nd Team SS on the All-Southland Conference Team. He was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 6th round of the 2014 MLB Draft.

Trevino started his Minor League career playing at 3 positions but became a full-time catcher in 2015. He was awarded the MILB Gold Glove Award in 2016 and 2017 and named a Post-Season All-Star in both of those years as well, once at the AA level and once at the AAA level. In six years in the minors, Trevino hit .259 with 45 Home Runs and 266 RBIs.

Trevino made his major league debut with the Rangers on June 15, 2018. On June 16, he got his first major league hit, an RBI single. On June 17, Trevino delivered a walk-off 2 run single. Shoulder surgery ended his season in late July. Trevino started his rehab in the minors in 2019 but was recalled on August 2. He finished the 2019 season with Texas hitting .258 with 2 Home Runs and 13 RBIs over 40 games.
