THSB All-Decade Team: Kolbey Carpenter, SS/RHP, West, 2012

Kolbey Carpenter was a SS/RHP who graduated from 3A West in 2012. In his senior year, Carpenter hits .389 with 15 2Bs, 14 HRs, 37 RBIs, 49 Runs and 30 BBs. On the mound, he was 11-1 with a 1.23 ERA, 115 Strikeouts in 85 innings and 2 Saves. He was the 8-3A MVP and selected as the 3A Co-Player of the Year.

Carpenter was a 3-Time 1st Team All-State Selection and had a career .448 batting average with 180 hits, 44 2Bs, 9 3Bs, 48 Home Runs and 88 Walks as a 4-year starter. His 48 Home Runs is a Texas Class 3A record for career home runs. He signed with the University of Oklahoma.

As a freshman at OU, Carpenter hit .264 with 2 HRs and 24 RBIs. As a sophomore, he batted .300 with 3 Home Runs and 13 RBIs. Carpenter had a break out junior year with a .360 batting average, 10 2Bs, 4 3Bs, 8 Home Runs and 37 RBIs. He was named the Big 12 Player of the Week three times during the 2015 season. He was the Big 12 Batting Average leader and was a unanimous All-Big 12 First Team selection. He was drafted in the 33rd Round by the Houston Astros in the 2015 MLB Draft.

Carpenter played 2 years in the Minor Leagues for the Tri City ValleyCats.
