THSB Player Profile: D’Mond LaFond, Sr, SS/RHP, Refugio
admin | Sep 26th, 2016D’Mond LaFond, is a 6’3” 180 lb Senior SS/RHP with the 2A Refugio Bobcats. He is uncommitted but has offers from TCU, Texas, Houston and Lamar.
Rebounding back from Tommy John surgery in 2015, LaFond had a .580 average with 12 2Bs, 7 3Bs, 3 HRs and 37 RBIs in his junior year. He was 24-24 in stolen bases and scored 40 runs. He also had a 6-0 pitching record with 53 K’s and a 1.83 ERA on a limited pitch count season.
LaFond was named the 31-2A Utility Player of the Year and the Victoria Advocate All-Area MVP. He was also selected to the THSBCA 2A All-State Team as a 1st Team Short Stop and to the Texas Sports Writers Association All-State Team as a 1st Team Short Stop and a Honorable Mention Pitcher. Nationally, he was named to the first team of the Max Preps Small School All-American baseball team.
LaFond was selected to the Texas Ranger Area Code team. His fastball hit 92 MPH in the Area Code Games. He hit 93 MPH in a Perfect Game Showcase this summer.
