THSB Player Profile: Jonathan Childress, Sr, LHP/1B, Forney

Jonathan Childress is a 6’5”, 215 lb Senior LHP/1B for the 5A Forney Jackrabbits. He has committed to Texas A&M University.

Childress was 8-1 with an 0.48 ERA and 137 K’s during his junior season at Forney. He threw 3 No-Hitters during the year. Offensively, he hit .343 and had 20 RBIs. He was the 15-5A Pitcher MVP and was named a 2nd Team Pitcher on the TSWA 5A All-State Team.

Childress made the Rangers Area Code Team this summer.  He also was selected to play in the Tournament of Stars in June and pitched in the Perfect Game All-American Classic in August. He also was part of the USA Baseball 18U 40 Man Trials Roster.

As a sophomore, Childress was 8-1 with a 1.19 ERA and 83 Ks. He also hit .300 with 6 2Bs and 16 RBIs. He was selected as the 12-5A Underclassmen MVP.

Childress was also selected as the 12-5A Underclassmen MVP as a Freshman.

Childress is currently ranked as the #2 player in Texas by Perfect Game and the #29 player nationally. He is the #4 ranked left-handed pitcher.
