Zane Underwood No-Hitter Leads Alpha Omega to TAPPS Division 4 State Championship

Zane Underwood pitched a no-hitter and Alpha Omega scored 13 runs on 8 hits in a 13-0 run-rule victory over Denton Calgary. They are the 2025 TAPPS Division 4 State Champions.
Alpha Omega grabbed the lead early in the top of the 1st. Leadoff singles by Austin McCaffety and Case Collum put runners on 1st and 2nd. Colton Sikes hit a ground ball that Denton Calvary tried to turn into a double play but the 1st baseman was pulled off the bag. McCaffety scored all the way from 2nd on the play.
Alpha Omega added a second run in the top of the 2nd. Keaton Winn led off the inning with a single and Rowdy Nichols doubled over the head of the centerfielder scored Winn from first. Alpha Omega led 2-0.
But the floodgates opened in the top of the 4th. Alpha Omega scored 10 runs. A 2 rbi single by Will Winn and a 2 rbi triple by Keaton Winn were the big hits in the inning. They scored one more in the top of the 5th to make it 13-0.
Meanwhile, the Sophomore pitcher Underwood was busy keeping the Denton Calgary team from scoring. Underwood pitched a no-hitter and allowed only one baserunner, a walk in the first inning, as Alpha Omega run-ruled Denton Calgary with the final score of 13-0.
For his pitching performance, Zane Underwood was named the THSB MVP of the TAPPS Division 4 State Championship Game.
